UN delays action on bid by Myanmar, Afghanistan to appoint new envoys

The requests by Myanmar’s military junta and Afghanistan’s Taliban to appoint new envoys at the United Nations will be dealt with later, according to a resolution approved by the UN General Assembly on Monday. The civilian government in Myanmar was ousted by the military in a coup on February 1, while the Taliban took power in Afghanistan in August.
