Sri Lanka's food inflation hits record high amid shortages

The food inflation rose to a record 22.1% in December in Sri Lanka amid an acute shortage of essentials, according to Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on Saturday. The overall inflation was at a record 12.01% in December. The country’s economy has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to the foreign exchange reserves crisis.
