Myanmar junta threatens jail for buyers of bonds issued by opp'n

Myanmar’s military junta said citizens buying bonds offered by the opposition will face lengthy prison sentences. The National Unity Government (NUG), an alliance of pro-democracy groups, ethnic armies and remnants of ousted civilian government, claimed it raised $9.5 million in the first 24 hours of its bonds sale. The funds will be used in its “revolution” against the military.
