Hong Kong to cull 2,000 hamsters as some test positive for COVID-19

Hong Kong has ordered the culling of 2,000 hamsters after 11 hamsters in a pet shop tested COVID-19 positive. The hamsters were tested after a new cluster of COVID-19 cases was traced to an employee working at the shop. Authorities said there’s “no evidence” that pets can transmit COVID-19 to humans but asked pet owners to “avoid kissing the animals”.
