Egypt unveils restored 3,400-year-old road 'Avenue of the Sphinxes'

The Egyptian authorities on Thursday reopened the 3,400-year-old Ancient Avenue of the Sphinxes, featuring hundreds of ram-headed sphinx statues. The road has undergone several restoration efforts since being discovered in 1949, and the latest began in 2017. The procession to reopen the 2.7 km road also included a reenactment of the ancient Opet festival.
