95% of sequenced COVID-19 cases in US last week were Omicron: Top US health body

Omicron accounted for 95% of sequenced coronavirus cases in the US last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Tuesday. Previously, the CDC estimated that the variant accounted for 58.6% of cases in the week ending December 25. The delta variant now accounts for just 4.6% of the sequenced cases in US, according to the CDC.
