58.6% COVID-19 cases estimated to be Omicron variant, says US CDC

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Tuesday said it estimated the Omicron variant made up 58.6% of COVID-19 cases in the US as of December 25. CDC also revised the Omicron proportion of cases for the week ending on December 18 from 73% down to 22%. The US’ first Omicron case was identified on December 1.
